Of the states with gubernatorial elections this year, 72 percent currently have GOP governors. In terms of their policies on transportation spending, the Republicans focus overwhelmingly on roads. A large share of the Democrats—unlike the Republicans—say they would improve transit offerings, and provide specific examples of changes they would pursue.
